11. November 12th 1689. Then was the following Petition profered to ye honble Court. wch was granted for the time to come from the County Leavy. To the Worll: Court of Somerset County. The humble Petion of Ben.Lawrence Senior: Your humble Petionr desires of your Worshps. by the reason of my age which is sixty five years that I may be leavy free. and your humble Petionor shall ever be bound for your worshps Banjamine Lawrence his marke -------------------------------------- Maryland Ss: To the Wors. there Maties Justices of the Peace for ye County of Somrst The humble Petition of William Bradshaw humbly sheweth that your Petioner hath been a Residenter in this County five and twenty years and understand that John Henderson fferry man is willing to throw up the ferry partly because of his incon- veniency and as he alleadges small wages,and your Petioner living in a more convenient place and knowne to be the best on Pocomoke River for all persons inhabiting this Province doe humbly desire ye same. since your Petioner lives by the River side and hath good conveniency for keeping the same and doe engage a fatahfull dilligence & true attendance, so that no complaint shall be as formerly, so hoping your Worshps will conferr the keeping of the said fferry to your Petionor this premises considered, and your Petioner shall in duty bound pray. Nov. Court. 1689 ------------------------------------------ This Petion granted as in folio 10. Thomas Fewick. Plt agt Continued William Faucet Defd. Dfd have agreed ------------------- To ye worll Court of Somersete County the humble petion of Wm Prentice Sheweth that yr Petioner thorew age and little use he hath of his eyes is uncapable of getting his lively hood therefore humbly craveth that worll Court to put him out of ye leve both now and for the future that he may not be troubled to come to Court and spend his time and you petioner as in duty bound shall pray. Petion granted The sd Plaintiff not to be ever drunk at Court . (In left margin) John Vigorus. Admr. to Ann: Smith. Plt agt. Decl. Read. Robert: Perry Dfdt ---------------------- Somerset County. Ss Robert: Perry late of Somerset County Mercht. was attached to answer unto John: Vigerus Administrator of ye goods and Chattles of Ann- Smith deceased, who was Execcutrx. & shalaat of the last Will and Testament of Edward Smith deceased of a Plea that he render unto him the full quantity and Sum of foure thousand pounds weight of good sound Merchantable Tobacco and eight gallons of Rum which he unjustly detaineth &c. ---------------------------------- And whereupon the said John: Vigerus by Peter Dent his Attorney saith that ye said Robert: Perry was indebted to the said Edward Smith in his lifetime yt is to say the 7th day of November in the yeare 1686 at Monocan with in ye jurisdicon of this Court in ye sume of four thousand pounds of Tobacco and 7 gallons of Rum as by a certain Obligation under the hand and Seale of him the said Perry here in Court produced more fully and at largeit may appeare the date whereof (is the) day |
