THE committee to whom was referred the petition of
the trustees of Cokesbury college, report,
that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion
that the same is reasonable and
ought to be granted. All which is submitted to the house.

Mr. Calvert, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to Mr. Speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition
of Auguste Buard, report, that they have
taken the same into consideration, and find, by certificates, that
the said Sophia, his wife, was married
to him on the seventeenth day of December, seventeen hundred and ninety-two,
and that the
said Sophia, since that period, to wit, on the nineteenth day of April,
seventeen hundred and ninety-six,
was married to Lewis Bullay, of Philadelphia. Your committee
are of opinion that the prayer
of said petition ought to be granted. All which is submitted
to the house.

On motion, ORDERED, That the committee appointed
to bring in a bill to erect a company, as
a body corporate, for the purpose of cutting and making a canal between
the bay of Chesapeake and
the river Delaware, be discharged.
On motion, ORDERED, That mR. Baker and Mr. Wallace
be added to the committee appointed
to bring in a supplement to the act for the establishment and regulation
of the levy courts in
the several counties of this state.
Mr. Worthington, from the committee, brings in and
delivers to Mr. Speaker a bill, entitled, An
act to repeal the thirty-third section of the act therein mentioned;
which was read the first time and
ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Montgomery., from the committee, brings in and
delivers to Mr. Speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition
of Benjamin Moreton, of Baltimore county,
report, that they have taken the same under their consideration, and
are of opinion, that under the
circumstances of the case a patent ought to issue; therefore submit
the following resolution:
RESOLVED, That the chancellor of this state be and
he is hereby authorised and requested to issue
a patent to the said Benjamin Moreton, and to any other legal representative
of James McBoyce, upon
the certificate of survey returned to the land-office by the said James
McBoyce upon a tract of land
containing ne hundred and one acres, purchased of the intendant, he
the said Benjamin Moreton,
or any other representative claiming under the said James McBoyce,
first making proof before the
chancellor, that the said James McBoyce died intestate and without
issue, and that he the said Benjamin
Moreton, or other the representative claiming under the said James
McBoyce, is or are the
nearest of kin in this country to the said James McBoyce, and that
he or they are naturalized.
And, whereas an escheat warrant may have issued
to affect said land, RESOLVED, That the
state doth hereby release, transfer and confirm, to the patentee or
patentees, bring the legal representative
or representatives of the said James McBoyce, any right it may have
acquired to the said
land in virtue of any such escheat warrant.
All which is submitted to the honourable house.

for the better administration of justice in the several counties of this
state; which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.
The report on the petition of Christian Weaver, was
read the second time, concurred with, and
leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto. ORDERED, That Mr.
Worthington, Mr. Carroll
and Mr. Merryman, be a committee to prepare and bring in the same.
Mr. Carroll, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to Mr. Speaker a bill, entitled, An act
for the relief of Christian Weaver; which was read the first time and ordered
to lie on the table.
Mr. Brome, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to Mr. Speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of the
vestry of Christ church parish, in
Calvert county, report, that they have taken the same into consideration,
and are of opinion that the
prayer of the petitioners ought to br granted. All which is submitted
to the honourable house.

read the second time, and the resolution
therein contained assented to.

Y, November 23, 1796.
THE house met. Present the same members as
on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday
were read.
Mr. John Lambert Wilmer, a delegate returned for Kent
county, appeared, and after qualifying
in the mode prescribed by the constitution and form of government, and
taking the oath to support
the constitution of the United States, took his seat in the house.
On motion, ORDERED, That the bill for the better administration
of justice in the several counties
of this state, have a second reading on Tuesday next.
