84            VOTES and PROCEEDINGS, November, 1796.

    RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay to Ninian Pinkney the sum of thirty
dollars, as a compensation for  copy of Messieurs Lyons argument relative to the bank stock of
this state now pending in the chancery court of England, made out by said Pinkney for the use of
the senate, it not being a part of his duty as clerk of the council.
    All which is submitted to the house.

Which was read.
    The report on the petition of Auguste Buard was read the second time, and the question put,
That the house concur therewith?  Determined in the negative.
    The clerk of the senate delivers the bill to confirm the divisions made in the city of Washington
of the estate of John Davidson, deceased, and for other purposes, the bill for increasing the jurisdiction
of the corporation of the city of Annapolis, the bill for the preservation of the breed of fish in Patuxent
river, severally endorsed; " By the senate, December 17, 1796:  Read the first time and
" ordered to lie on the table.

" By the senate, December 20, 1796:  Read the second time and will pass.

The supplement of an act, entitled, An act to remove the market-house at the head of Elk, and
establish the same, and for the advancement and regulation of said town, endorsed; " By the senate,

" By the senate, December 20, 1796:  Read the second time by especial order and will pass.

The bill to authorise and empower the justices of the levy court of Kent county to assess and levy a
sum of money on the inhabitants of the said county for the purpose therein mentioned, endorsed;

The supplement to the act, entitled, An act directing the proceedings against persons guilty of fornication,

" proposed amendments.

    Amendments proposed.  In the 15th line of the 1st page strike out the word "supported" and
insert the word "verified."  In the same line, after the word "oath," insert " or affirmation, as
the case may be."
