THE committee to whom was referred the petition of the
trustees of the poor of Queen-Anne's
county, beg leave to report, that they have examined the facts contained
therein, and are of opinion
that the prayer ought to be granted.

Which was read.
The clerk of the senate delivers a memorial and petitions
of the proprietors of the Susquehanna
canal, praying that an act may pass empowering the proprietors of the Susquehanna
canal to extend the
time for completing the canal, and the present number of shares to fifty,
and that the state take
twenty shares, endorsed; " By the senate, November 30, 1796: Read
and referred to the consideration
" of the house of delegates.

Which was read and referred to Mr. Carroll, Mr. Barroll,
Mr. Digges, Mr. McMechen and
Mr. Buchanan, to consider and report thereon.
Mr. Goldsborough, from the committee, brings in and
delivers to the speaker the bill to settle
and pay the civil list, and other expences of civil government, as amended;
which was read the first
time and ordered to lie on the table.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill recognizing
the coin of the United States, and the
value of foreign coins as established by the acts of the congress of the
United States. ORDERED,
That Mr. Robins, Mr. Ridout and Mr. Wilson, be a committee to prepare and
bring in the same.
Mr. Carroll, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for
raising a sum of money, by the way of a lottery, to complete and finish
a house of public worship
in Baltimore county; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on
the table.
A petition from Ignatius Middleton, of Charles county,
praying the treasurer may be directed to
return him ten pounds three shillings and two-pence, overpaid for interest
due on his father's bond
for a loan of money of the emission of 1774, was preferred, read, and referred
to Mr. Sprigg, Mr.
Key and Mr. Montgomery, to consider and report thereon.
A petition from Clement Hill, of Prince-George's county,
praying to be allowed the sum of
eight pounds five shillings red money, for a certificate which he received
from the commissioners of
the tax of Prince-George's county, for which he has never been credited,
was preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Baker, Mr. Calvert and Mr. Wilmer, to consider and report
thereon.
Mr. Robins, from the committee, brings in and delivers
to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to
alter and repeal such parts of the constitution and form of government
of this state as relate to the
council to the governor; which was read the first time and ordered to lie
on the table.
ORDERED, That the said bill have a second reading on
Thursday the 8th day of December next.
The bill making valid the title of Matthew Ryan to several
lots or parcels of land therein mentioned,
was read the second time, and passed.
The bill to incorporate the Roman catholic congregation
worshipping at the church of Saint-Mary,
in the vicinity of Bryan-town, in Charles county, was read the second time,
and passed.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill for the punishment
of horse stealers and other offenders.
ORDERED, That Mr. Nicholson, Mr. Brome, Mr. Handy, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Jones,
be a
committee to prepare and bring in the same.
The report on the letter of William Cooke, was read
the second time, and the resolutions therein
contained assented to.
The house adjourns till to-morrow morning 9 o'clock.

THE house met. Present the same members as
on yesterday. The proceedings of yesterday
were read.
The bill to incorporate the Roman catholic congregation
worshipping at the church of Saint-Mary,
in the vicinity of Bryan-town, in Charles county, the bill making valid
the title of Matthew
Ryan to several lots or parcels of land therein mentioned, and the resolution
appointing commissioners
on the part of this state, in the room of Mr. Pinkney, absent, and Mr.
Cooke, resigned,
relative to the western and southern limits of this state, were sent to
the senate by the clerk.
On motion, Leave given to bring in an additional supplementary
act to the act relating to the
standard of English weights and measures. ORDERED, That Mr. Nicholson,
Mr. J. Thomas,
Mr. Brogden, Mr. Digges and Mr. Brown, be a committee to prepare and bring
in the same.
A petition from Richard A. Contee, of Prince-George's
county, praying he may be released from
the payment of £. 250 due to the state for the purchase of a lot
of ground on Fell's Point, was
preferred, read, and referred to Mr. Robins, Mr. Oneale and Mr. Ridgely,
to consider and report
thereon,
A petition from Levin Irvings, of Somerset county, praying
his title may be confirmed to certain
lands purchased of John Leatherbury, late sheriff of Somerset-county, was
preferred, read, and
referred to Mr. Robins, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Handy, to consider and report
thereon.
