READING CLERK: Resolution No. 31,
by the President, and Delegates Tawes, J.
Clark and James.
A RESOLUTION of appreciation to the
State Department of Education.
WHEREAS, the Constitutional Conven-
tion of Maryland, desiring to interest the
youth of the State of Maryland in the pro-
ceedings of the Convention and in its pur-
|
pose of improving state government, sought
high school students to serve as pages for
the Convention, and
WHEREAS, the State Department of
Education, through the Superintendents of
Schools of several of the counties of the
State, nominated high school senior stu-
dents to serve as pages for the Convention,
and
WHEREAS, without exception, the per-
sons who have acted as pages have ren-
dered excellent service, and have contrib-
uted materially to the dispatch with the
business of the Convention was conducted,
by the willing and gracious acceptance of
the many tasks requested of them.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE-
SOLVED, that the Constitutional Conven-
tion of Maryland express its appreciation
to the State Department of Education for
its assistance in the successful page pro-
gram of the Convention, and be it further
RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolu-
tion be sent to the State Department of
Education and to the Superintendent of
Schools in each of the several counties par-
ticipating in the page program.
THE PRESIDENT: I did not realize
that there were as many resolutions as
there are.
Also, the action on these resolutions to-
day does require suspension of the rules.
I therefore will have the Clerk read only
the title of each resolution, so you will
know the subject matter to which it per-
tains; and then ask Delegate Powers to
move suspension of the rules to consider
and act upon each resolution.
Delegate Harry Taylor.
DELEGATE Pl. TAYLOR: This is a
resolution to the State Department of Edu-
cation and there is a small error in that
resolution. I have discussed it with Dele-
gate Pullen, who we all know is a former
superintendent of education, and since this
is going out to the Department of Educa-
tion, historically we would not want it to
go out with any ft-rammatical error. If you
will look on line 21, you say on 21 "to the
dispatch with the business". The "with"
should be followed by "which".
I have read all the other resolutions, so
you will be safe in reading only the titles.
THE PRESIDENT: Is there consent to
adding "which" after "with" in line 21?
Is there any objection to that?
