haste to sacrifice principle for expediency
or honor for ill-gotten gain. Save us, Oh,
God, in a day when man has become the
most dangerous part of his environment.
Alert us all to the subtle danger of know-
ing much while sometimes understanding
little. Let every noble failure leave us un-
broken in spirit, stronger of purpose and
let every success find us humble enough to
recognize the frontiers and opportunities
still awaiting us for conquest.
So, by Thy Gracious Spirit, guide us
through the complications of our troubled
time and to the larger triumph of wide-
spread, responsible citizenship. Do Thou
lead us, Oh, God.
Amen.
