THE PRESIDENT: Are there any an-
nouncements by committee chairmen?
Delegate Rybczynski?
DELEGATE RYBCZYNSKI: Mr. Presi-
dent, would the six representatives from
Baltimore City district please meet with
me immediately after this meeting here
at this desk, and I would recommend to
the Baltimore City Delegates to read the
editorial page of this morning's Baltimore
Sun.
Thank you, sir.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Mudd?
DELEGATE MUDD: Mr. President, the
Committee on Judicial Branch will meet in
its usual room immediately following the
meeting on the floor. Also, may I take this
opportunity to remind the delegates that
our meeting with the Clerks of the Court
is scheduled for Monday at 1:00 P.M. It
will not be held in our first floor quarters
here, but in the Assembly Room on the
first floor of the State Office Building, and
we will welcome anyone on Monday who
has an idea regarding Clerks of the Court.
Thank you.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Kiefer?
DELEGATE KIEFER: Mr. President,
as announced yesterday, next week will be
devoted to hearings on due process, equal
protection of laws, and rights of the poor.
Wednesday evening the Committee on Per-
sonal Rights and the Preamble has sched-
uled an open meeting to which the public
at large are invited, that is, groups, in-
dividuals, et cetera, who wanted to express
their views on this subject. However, we
now of course recognize that this is the
beginning of Jewish religious holidays so
we have postponed that hearing from 7:30
P.M. on October 4, to Monday, 7:30 P.M.,
and I want to be sure that everybody who
might be interested understands this. This
is to be given to the press, and the hearing
will take place on Monday, 7:30 P.M. Any-
one who wants to express themselves on
these subjects are invited. If we do not
have enough time on Monday, we will con-
tinue on Tuesday.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any fur-
ther announcements by committee chair-
men? Delegate Morgan? |
DELEGATE KIEFER: Beg your par-
don, Mr. President?
THE PRESIDENT: Mr. Kiefer.
DELEGATE KIEFER: If I did not say,
it is October 9, a week from this Monday.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Morgan?
DELEGATE MORGAN: Mr. President,
the Committee on the Executive Branch
will meet on Monday, immediately follow-
ing the adjournment of the Convention. We
will hear first from Delegate Henderson
with respect to certain suggestions he has
with respect to the office of attorney gen-
eral, and we will then hear from Delegate
Cardin and Delegate Soul with respect to
proposals that they have introduced and
have been referred to our Committee.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there further
announcements by the committee chairmen?
Delegate Koss?
DELEGATE KOSS: Mr. President, the
Committee on Suffrage and Elections will
meet next at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, but I
would like to remind all the delegates that
we have scheduled two meetings next week,
public hearings, on the subject of voting
age, one Tuesday evening at 7:30 P.M. and
one Wednesday morning at 9:30 A.M. Both
of those latter meetings are to be held in
the Baltimore City delegation room at
Shaw House.
In terms of public hearings, there is
scheduled a last public hearing on the 10th,
which is the following Tuesday, at 9:30
A.M. on frequency of elections. However,
anyone who would have liked to testify at
the previous hearings is welcome at that
point to present testimony.
Thank you.
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Gallagher?
DELEGATE GALLAGHER: Mr. Presi-
dent, ladies and gentlemen, the Committee
on the Legislative Branch will meet on
Monday at 2:00 P.M. The only unusual
announcement that we have to make is
that we have decided to hear from the pro-
fessional lobbyists who represent various
interests in the General Assembly and we
will hear them on Friday the 13th of
October.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there further
announcements ?
THE CHAIRMAN: Mr. President, the
Committee on General Provisions will con-
tinue and finish, terminate its hearings on |
