THE PRESIDENT: The Sergeant-at-

The Convention will please come to order.
The invocation today will be offered by
Rabbi Morris Rosenblatt of the Kenneseth
Israel Congregation in Annapolis.
RABBI ROSENBLATT: Eternal God,
our Heavenly Father, as the Maryland Con-
stitutional Convention meets here today, we
unite our hearts in prayer. We know that
for courage, faith, and endurance, we need
the hope and help which Thou alone can
give. Thou hast placed at our command
abundant moral and spiritual resources
which enable us to overcome the obstacles
in our path which need to be challenged.
May we work in faith and be assured
that Thy sustaining strength will be suffi-
cient for our every need. Grant that in the
great adventure of building a well-balanced
life, we may learn to combine common sense
with a spirit of service so that we may
learn how to coordinate practical common
sense with idealism. Instill in us a spirit of
devotion to duty and service. May the minds
and hearts of people everywhere be cleansed
of all those attitudes and ambitions which
cause dissension and division in our ranks,
both in our country and in our lives. We
pray Thee to bless the deliberations of this
Convention and those who have come here
to share in the program and those who have
planned and prepared all the details. May
Thy divine presence dwell on the work of
this land in a world of peace and security.
Amen.
