intend to have the full session back, I
can make an announcement.
THE PRESIDENT: We intend to meet
at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, but there will be
an evening session on Monday.
MR. GALLAGHER: Out of deference to
the work of my fine committee, there will
be no meeting Monday.
(Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Dulaney.
DELEGATE DULANEY: The Commit-
tee on Public Information will meet
promptly at 1:00 P.M. on Monday.
THE PRESIDENT: Are there any fur-
ther announcements by Committee Chair-
men?
(There was no response.)
Are there any other announcements?
(There was no response.)
The Chair recognizes Delegate Powers.
DELEGATE POWERS: Mr. President,
I have two brief announcements. One is
that beginning next Tuesday and we hope
for the remainder of the Convention, we
propose to recess for lunch a half hour
later at 1:00 P.M. until 2:30 P.M., thereby
reducing a long afternoon by a half hour
and lengthening a short morning by a half
hour. I say that so that delegates can make
their plans accordingly.
Also, for the information of the dele-
gates the Committee Report of the Execu-
tive, Committee on the Executive Branch,
No. 1, will be on the agenda for Monday
and the Committee Recommendation will
follow that so that you will have an idea
as to what is in store for you between now
and Thanksgiving.
I move that we adjourn —
THE PRESIDENT: Before you make
the motion, are there any delegates here
now who were not present at roll call this
afternoon? You may indicate your pres-
ence on the roll call.
Delegate Powers, before you make your
motion did you want to indicate anything
as to the length of the session on Wednes-
day?
DELEGATE POWERS: On Wednesday
the present plan would be that the session
would be the same length as the other
weekdays but it may be between now and
then I think between now and then per-
|
haps we will provide an agenda that will
enable the delegates to leave a little early
on that day.
I move we adjourn until 2:00 P.M. on
Monday.
THE PRESIDENT: Before you leave
and before I put the motion, let me re-
peat, in case you did not hear, we do plan
a session Monday evening, so that the
'Monday session will be afternoon and eve-
ning, just as it was this past week.
All those in favor of the motion, signify
by saying Aye; contrary, No. The ayes
have it. It is so ordered.
(Whereupon, at 5:25 P.M. the Conven-
tion was adjourned to reconvene at 2:00
P.M. on Monday, November 20, 1967)

PRESIDENT H. VERNON ENEY,
PRESIDING
THE PRESIDENT: The Convention will
come to order.
The minister delivering the invocation
today requests that you remain seated.
The invocation today will be offered by
the Reverend Converse P. Hunter of Chest-
nut Grove Presbyterian Church at Phoenix.
Reverend Hunter.
REVEREND HUNTER: Let us pray:
Almighty God, we acknowledge before
Thee our unpayable indebtedness, for we
are children of sacrifice. Our benedictions
have been bought with the price of other
blood and tears than our own. For the gifts
of liberty and all who have ennobled life
with truth and light, not counting the cost,
0 Lord, make us thankful.
Author of liberty, whose Kingdom in-
spires the search for a more perfect hu-
man society; for the privileges of democ-
racy, make us thankful. For insight to
transcend private whim, for sensitivity to
the needs of the voiceless, for wise judg-
ment on the thirsts of the powerful, Good
Lord, grant courage. For the mind and
will and the costly concern to establish a
more excellent society based in order and
freedom, harmony and justice, 0 God, give
us grateful hearts. From dealing too casu-
