committee, and there were probably ten people there
this morning at the sessionthat commenced at 9:15.
I would estimate ten or maybe 12. There were a total
of about 13 persons who spoke. By way of. explanation
of the type of publicity, there were the small squibs in
the newspaper, as you say.
In addition, some delegates I think spoke to
people in their home areas and did ask them to come in.
Some of these people came in, some declined, and pre-
sumably a number of people who want to be heard will
be heard at some subsequent time.
The committee will commence hearings at
12:50 on Monday and at that time the major subject
would be the method of granting powers to the counties;
that is, whether through expressed powers or the re-
sidual powers approach.
The persons invited to speak at that time
are the Honorable Thomas hunter Lowe, Dr. Everstine,
the Honorable Marvin Mandel, and our President, Mr. Eney.
