Delegate Hopkins.
DELEGATE HOPKINS: Mr. President, fellow Dele-
gates, I wish to thank the gentlemen of the Delegation
from the Third District for giving me the honor and
privilege to nominate Mrs. Agnes White Smith to
serve in the place of Delegate 0* Conor.
Those of you who have had any association
with the Third District in Baltimore City probably
know her already, because she is one of our most active
workers in the community, particularly with relation
to the schools, but in many many different phases of
community life. She also has some teaching experience.
Mrs. Smith is the mother of five daughters, and she has
conferred to them her sense of civic duty and
responsibility, and the whole family works on many
things in the community, in the political, civic, and
other affairs.
Mrs. Smith has a great interest in the Consti-
tutional Convention. She was one of the candidates for |
