the Committee on Rules, Credentials, and Convention Budget

Now there has just been laid upon my desk, and I believe

3

the desk of the rest of you, a substantial amendment

4

to the proposed report, an amendment introduced by the

5

Vice President of the Convention, and another sponsor,

6

several other sponsors. The Committee on Rules has not

7

had an opportunity to consider this specific amendment

8

presented in the resolution, to which I refer, although

9

the Committee discussed generally the subject matter

10

that it embraces. I have not had to poll all the

11

members of the Committee on Rules but ones with whom I

12

have spoken would prefer the opportunity to consider

13

the proposed amendment and therefore I would respect-

14

fully request the Convention for permission to at

15

this time defer the reading and presentation of our

16

Fourth Report, and permit us to come back no later

17

than Friday with our report, having taken into account

18

the recommendations set forth in Senator Clark's

19

resolution.

20
