committee chairmen? If not, I have one other announcement
that I have been requested to make by the President. As
you know, they have been trying to carry each morning and
afternoon the calendar of events, hearings before commit-
tees, et cetera. This is highly desirable from the point
of view of the Convention and of the public. It is working
except for the fact that there have been numerous amend-
ments to the calendar in the afternoon. This has caused
considerable difficulty and in some instances, the pub-
lished calendar is not the final calendar.
I would greatly appreciate it if the chairman
of each committee would make it the rule and give priority
to their approval, final approval of the calendar a few
minutes before noon each day so that the administrative
assistant can have the calendar finally approved and not
subject to any further change that day, in the hands of
the public information service.
I realize fully that there will be times when
it is impossible to carry out the schedule calendar and
we will have to make changes but if you will make every
effort to finalize your calendar before 12:00, this will
