[Dec. 1] DEBATES 1541

DELEGATE E. CLARKE: I would like
to call the attention of Delegate Malkus to
the fact that Delegate Clagett is here and
maybe they should go out and throw snow-
balls at one another.

THE PRESIDENT: The Chair would
like to call the attention of the Convention
to the fact that this is the eve of a very
important occasion for some of our pages
here, and I think they feel that your feel-
ings that perhaps you have had a rough
time in the past week are as nothing com-,
pared with theirs, because this week marks
the end of a period again when some of the
pages very reluctantly leave us. They will
not be here tomorrow because of the fact
that seven of them have to take College
Entrance Boards.

I think we should extend our very hearty
thanks and our very best wishes to Bill
Price, Cathy Doss, Robert Earrion, T. C.
Newman, Bob Schwartz, Anne Fallen, and
to Mike O'Rourke.

Don Gohn also leaves us, but he will be
here tomorrow because he does not take
the college boards. Very best wishes to all
of you. (Applause.)

THE PRESIDENT: Are there any fur-
ther announcements?

The Chair recognizes Delegate Powers.

DELEGATE POWERS: Mr. Chairman,
I move that we recess until 2:15 P.M.

THE PRESIDENT: Delegate Schneider.

DELEGATE SCHNEIDER: May we
have a supplemental roll call.

THE PRESIDENT: All delegates not
present this morning answer supplemental
roll call.

The Clerk will record the supplemental
roll call.

Please note that the motion was that we
adjourn until 2:15 P.M.

Is there a second?
(The motion was duly seconded.)

THE PRESIDENT: The motion having
been seconded, all in favor signify by say-
ing Aye; contrary, No. The Ayes have it.
It is so ordered.

(Whereupon, at 12:53 P.M. the Conven-
tion was recessed, to reconvene at 2:15
P.M., on the same day.)

PLENARY SESSION
DECEMBER 1, 1967—2:22 P.M.
PRESIDENT H. VERNON ENEY,

PRESIDING

THE PRESIDENT: The Sergeant-at-
Arms will clear the aisles and close the
door.

The Convention will please come to order.
Roll call.
(Whereupon, the roll was called.)

THE PRESIDENT: Have all delegates
answered roll call?

The Clerk will record the roll call.

There being a quorum present, the Con-
vention is in session.

The Chair recognizes Delegate Powers,
Chairman of the Committee on Calendar
and Agenda.

DELEGATE POWERS: Mr. President,
I move the Convention resolve itself into a
Committee of the Whole for the purpose of
considering the orders of the day.

THE PRESIDENT: Is there a second
to the motion?

(Whereupon, the motion was duly sec-
onded.)

THE PRESIDENT: All in favor, signify
by saying Aye; contrary, No.

The Ayes have it. It is so ordered.

(Whereupon, at 2:25 P.M., the Conven-
tion resolved itself into the Committee of
the Whole.)

(The mace was removed by the Sergeant-
at-Arms.)

COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
DECEMBER 1, 1967—2:25 P.M.

PRESIDING

THE CHAIRMAN: The Committee of
the Whole will come to order.

The next order for consideration is Com-
