Rights and the Preamble. Here again as to the problem
as to which committee should consider the matter, both of
these committees should consider it. The committee on the
Judicial Branch has advised me that it does not intend to
take any action with respect to the proposal, and
accordingly, I refer it to the Committee on Personal
Rights and the Preamble.
I am happy to advise you that again today for
the second time there are no new delegate proposals to be
introduced.
Are there any motions or resolutions? If not,
I have several announcements to make.
First, and I think perhaps the most important
of the announcements, is that it gives me a great deal of
pleasure and I may say relief, personal relief, to
announce to the Convention that I have appointed Mr.
Sherrod East as historian or more accurately, archivist of
the Convention. Mr. East is presently retired but until
very recently was assistant archivist in charge of the
military affairs division of the office of National |
