So the Convention refused to lay the order on

Mr. BROWN wished it to be understood that the
pay of officers had been extended back to the
commencement of the session, two weeks, and
even three weeks in some cases before they had
commenced. It was proposed to pay their ex-
penses both coming here and going home. He
would not vote away the money for any such
purpose.
The question then recurred on the adoption of
the amendment of Mr. HICKS.
