CHAP. XXXIV.
A Supplement to an act, * entitled, An act authorising the justices
of
the levy court in Queen-Anne's county to levy a sum of
money for
the building of a prison in the said county, and to regulate
the

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, that the money which
was levied and
collected under the act of seventeen hundred and ninety-seven, to which
this is a supplement,
for the purpose of erecting a prison in Queen-Anne's county, was insufficient
for completing the same,
II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the justices
of the levy court be
and they are hereby authorised, directed and required, to assess and
levy on the assessable property in
said county, at the time of laying their public levies, a sum not exceeding
five hundred pounds cur-
rent money, together with six percent. for collecting, which money
shall be collected in the year
eighteen hundred as other county charges are, and when collected, shall
be paid to the commissioners,
and applied as is directed by the act to which this is a supplement.
CHAP. XXXV.
An ACT for the relief of James Roney, of Somerset county.

WHEREAS James Roney, a prisoner in the gaol of Somerset county, was
included in the act
for the relief of sundry insolvent debotrs, passed past session of
assembly, and for want of a
certificate of his naturalization, (which he having made appear was
obtained but unfortunately lost,)
could not receive the benefit of said act; therefore,
II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said
James Roney shall be, and
he is hereby declared to be, entitled to all the benefits of the act
passed last year for the relief of
sundry insolvent debtors, and wherein the said James Roney is named
and included, upon his com-
plying with the other requisites of said act, in the same manner as
if the said James Roney produced
a certificate of naturalization.

CHAP. XXXVII.
An ACT to authorise Charles Gassaway, of Montgomery county, to
alter part of a road therin mentioned.

WHEREAS Charles Gassaway, of Montgomery county, by his petition to this
general assembly
hath set forth, that the road leading from the mouth of Monocacy to
Montgomery court-
house runs through the plantation formerly Benjamin Edwards's, but
now the property of said Gas-
saway, and by his said petition prays that a law may pass, authorising
him to alter said road from the
old store-house of Benjamin Edwards, so as to run by the dwelling-houses,
as the old road formerly
did, until it intersects the present road in the edge of the woodland,
between the dwelling-house of
said Benjamin Edwards and Montgomery court-house; and it appearing
to this general assembly that
the alteration aforesaid is reasonable and proper, therefore,
II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the said
Charles Gassaway be and
he is hereby authorised to make the alteration in the road as aforesaid,
and the same, when altered,
shall be deemed and taken as a public highway, and repaired as other
public roads in said county are
repaired.
CHAP. XXXVIII.
An ACT to authorise and empower the levy court of Anne-Arundel
county to assess and levy annually a sum of money
for the purpose

WHEREAS Andrew Criswell, of Anne-Arundel county, by his petition to
