A bill, entitled, A supplement to the act, entitled, An act relating to the public roads in Somerset
county, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November 14, 1799:  Read the first time
" and ordered to lie on the table.

" By the house of delegates, November 18, 1799:  Read the second time and Will pass.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk."
And a bill, entitled, An act to revive and aid the proceedings of the orphans court of Calvert
county, thus endorsed; " By the house of delegates, November 16, 1799:  Read the first time
" and ordered to lie on the table.

" By the house of delegates, November 19, 1799:  Read the second time and will pass.

Which were severally read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate the following resolution:

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 19, 1799.
    Whereas it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of James Weems, that on
the seventeenth day of May, seventeen hundred and eighty-two, a certificate issued, in the name
of Thomas Gray, for two hundred and thirty-three pounds sixteen shillings and six-pence, which
certificate was for the use of said James Weems:  And whereas it further appear, that the said
certificate has been lost or mislaid by said Weems, and hath never been cancelled or redeemed;
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore be and he is hereby directed to pay to James
Weems, or order, the sum of two hundred and thirty-three pounds sixteen shillings and six-pence
currency, with interest on the same from the seventeenth day of May, seventeen hundred and
eighty-two; provided that the said sum shall not be paid to the said Weems, or his order, until
the said Weems, or some other person on his behalf, shall give bond to the state of Maryland,
with sufficient security, to be approved by the treasurer of the western shore, conditioned to
refund the aforesaid sum of two hundred and thirty-three pounds sixteen shillings and six-pence,
with interest from the seventeenth of May, seventeen hundred and eighty-two, in case the said
certificate should at any time hereafter be produced at the treasury office, or payment therefor
demanded.
                                                                By order,                            W.  HARWOOD, clk.
Which was read the first and second time by especial order and assented to.
    The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Dorchester county to
assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Esther Kenner, was read the second
time by especial order and will pass.
    The bill, entitled, An act to settle and ascertain the salary of the members of the council for
the ensuing year, was read the second time by especial order and will pass.
    The bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy court of Dorchester county to
assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Philemon Brooke, was read the second
time by especial order and will pass.
The senate adjourns until to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

W    E    D    N    E    S    D    A    Y,    November 20, 1799.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday.  Robert Milligan, Esquire,
appeared in the senate, and qualified in the presence of the senate, before Allen Quynn,
Esquire, one of the justices of the peace for Anne-Arundel county, agreeably to the constitution
and form of government.  The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The senate adjourns until to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

T    H    U    R    S    D    A    Y,.    November 21, 1799.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday.  The proceedings of yesterday
were read.
    The resolution in favour of James Weems, the bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower
the levy court of Dorchester county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of
Esther Kenner, the bill, entitled, An act to settle and ascertain the salary of the members of the
council for the ensuing year, and the bill, entitled, An act to authorise and empower the levy
court of Dorchester county to assess and levy annually a sum of money for the support of Philemon
Brooke, were sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
    The bill, entitled, An act to empower the levy court of Dorchester county to appoint a constable
for the town of Cambridge, was read the second time and will pass.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers to the clerk of the senate a bill, entitled, An act
for the relief of William Dent Beall, of Montgomery county, thus endorsed; " By the house of
" delegates, November 21, 1799:  Read the first and second time by especial order and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                          W.  HARWOOD, clk."
