M    O    N    D    A    Y.    November 11, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday.  John Thomas, John Campbell, Charles Ridgely,
of Hampton, and William Hammond Dorsey, Esquires, appeared in the senate.

The members present adjourn until to-morrow morning.

T    U    E    S    D    A    Y,    November 12, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday.  The members present adjourn until to-morrow
morning.

W    E    D    N    E    S    D    A    Y,    November 13, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday.  The members present adjourn until to-morrow
morning.

T    H    U    R    S    D    A    Y,    November 14, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday, except Charles Ridgely, of Hampton, and David
McMechen, Esquires.

The members present adjourn until to-morrow morning.

F    R    I    D    A    Y,    November 15, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday.  The members present adjourn until to-morrow
morning.

S    A    T    U    R    D    A    Y,    November 16, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday, except John Thomas and William Hammond
Dorsey, Esquires.

The members present adjourn until to-morrow morning.

S    U    N    D    A    Y,    November 17, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday.  The members present adjourn until to-morrow
morning.

M    O    N    D    A    Y,    November 18, 1799.

    THE same members appeared as on yesterday.  John Thomas, Charles Ridgely, of Hampton,
Uriah Forrest, William Hammond Dorsey, David McMechen and William Hindman, Esquires,
appeared in the senate.
    A sufificient number of members to compose a senate being convened, they severally qualified
in the presence of each other, before Allen Quynn, Esquire, one of the justices of the peace for
Anne-Arundel county, agreeably to the constitution and form of government.
    The senate then proceeded to the election of a president; the ballot box being prepared, the
ballots were deposited therein, and on examination thereof it appeared, that the honourable John
Thomas, Esquire, was unanimously elected.
    Whereupon it is declared in the senate, that the hoinourable John Thomas, Esquire, is unanimously
elkected president thereof.
    Mr. Archibald Van-Horn was appointed clerk, and Mr. Willima Sanders Green assistant clerk,
who severally qualified as such.
    Mr. Edward Roberts was apppointed messenger, and Mr. Jonathan Parker door-keeper, who
severally qualified as such.
    The following message was prepared, read, agreed to, and sent to the house of delegates by 
the clerk.

By the SENATE, November 18, 1799.
        GENTLEMEN,
    THE senate having a sufficient number of members to form a house, are ready to proceed to
the business of the session, and propose to go into the choice of a governor immediately, and
have appointed David McMechen and William Hindman, Esquires, to join such gentlemen as
may be appointed by your house in the examination of the ballots.  Benjamin Ogle, Esquire, if 
put in nomination by this house.

    The president communicates to the senate a list made by William Richardson, junior, treasurer
of the eastern shore, of balances due in the several counties of the eastern shore upon the treasury
books on the first day of November, 1799; which was read.
    The president communicates to the senate a letter from Samuel A. Otis, secretary to the senate
of the United States, accompanied by a copy of their journals at the third session of the fifth
congress; which was read.
    The president communicates to the senate a letter from John Callahan, register of the western
shore land-office, addressed to the president of the senate and speaker of the house of delegates,
