The resolution in favour of Allegany county school, the resolution in
favour of Anne Elizabeth
THE senate were of opinion that the bill respecting a partition of the estate of John Davidson, deceased, involved it in principles of serious importance in legislation; it occupied their reflections for a considerable time, and the deliberation which they gave it induced them, in a full senate, to reject it. Several of the gentlemen who passed upon that bill are now absent; we therefore think it would be improper to reconsider it, particularly at this advanced period of the session. By order, A. VAN-HORN, clk. Which was read. The bill to authorise Benjamin Ray, junior, to collect the balances due him as sheriff and collector of Montgomery county, was read the second time by especial order, and the question put, That the said bill do pass? The yeas and nays being required, appeared as follow:
be withdrawn. The bill to lay out, alter and confirm, certain roads in Allegany county, was read the second time by especial order, passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk. The report on the petition of Richard J. Orme was read the second time, the resolution therein contained assented to, and sent to the senate by the clerk. The report on the petition of sundry inhabitants of Havre-de-Grace was read the second time, concurred with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto. ORDERED, That the committee appointed on the said petition prepare and bring in the same. Mr. J. Buchanan, from the committee, delivers to the speaker the following report: THE committee to whom was referred the petition of Catharine Bowman and Daniel Bowman, of Washington county, report, that they have considered the subject matter thereof, and are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioners ought to be granted. By order, J. S. BETTON, clk. Which was read the first and second time, concurred with, and leave given to bring in a bill pursuant thereto. ORDERED, That the committee appointed on the said petition prepare and bring in the same. Mr. Wallace, from the committee, delivers to the speaker a bill, entitled, An act to change the name of Clement Holliday Waring to the name of Clement Holliday; which was read the first time and ordered to lie on the table. |
