Mr. Tomlinson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry
inhabitants of Allegany county,
praying that a law may pass for opening a road from John Kemberly's to
Evan Gwinn's, report,
that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion the
prayer of the petitioners
is reasonable, and ought to be granted.

Mr. McPherson, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of John
Ryan, of Cæcil county, report,
that they have taken the same into their consideration, and the facts therein
stated being fully
established by the certificate of the treasurer of the western shore, they
therefore submit the following
resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
unto John Ryan, of Cæcil county, or
his order, the sum of thirty-three pounds nine shillings and six-pence,
being an over payment for
confiscated property, with interest thereon from the 15th day of June,
seventeen hundred and
eighty-five.

Mr. Street, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of John
Whiteford, of Harford county,
report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and the facts
therein stated being fully
established by the certificate of the treasurer, they submit the following
resolution:
RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore pay
unto John Whiteford, of Harford
county, or his order, the sum of eleven pounds six shillings and five-pence,
being an over payment
for lands purchased in said county from the late intendant, with interest
thereon from the
first day of September, seventeen hundred and ninety-nine.

Mr. J. Buchanan, from the committee, delivers to the
speaker the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of sundry
inhabitants of Elizabeth-town,
in Washington county, beg leave to report, that they have considered the
same, and are of opinion
that the opening of the road prayed for in said petition would be advantageous,
but forasmuch
as notice has not been given to the proprietors of the land through which
said road must
consequently run, your committee suggest the propriety of referring said
petition to the next general
assembly.

Mr. Keene, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
the following report:
THE committee to whom was referred the petition of John
Button, of Dorchester county,
report, that they have taken the same into consideration, and are of opinion
that the prayer
thereof is reasonable, and ought to be granted. All which is submitted
to the house.

the speaker a bill, entitled, An act for the
relief of John Johnson of Washington county; which was read the first time
and ordered to lie
on the table.
Mr. Ridgley, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act to appoint
commissioners to examine, survey and lay out, the several roads therein
mentioned; which was
read the first time and ordered to lie on the table.
On motion, Leave given to bring in a bill for the
direction of surveyors in executing warrants
of escheat in certain cases. ORDERED, That Mr. Key, Mr. Hall and
Mr. Taney, be a committee
to prepare and bring in the same.
The bill to lay out certain roads from Andrew Gore
and James Cooper's mill, in Baltimore
county, was read the second time, passed, and sent to the senate by the
clerk.
Mr. Keene, from the committee, delivers to the speaker
a bill, entitled, An act to authorise
and empower the levy court of Dorchester county to assess and levy
annually a sum of money for
the support of John Button; which was read the first time and ordered to
lie on the table.
The amendments to the bill to repair the public gaol
in Saint-Mary's county, were read the
second time, agreed to, and the bill ordered to be engrossed.
The bill to correct an error in a certain deed therein
mentioned, was read the second time,
passed, and sent to the senate by the clerk.
The report on the memorial of Vachel Stevens was read
the second time, and the question
put, That the house assent to the resolution therein contained?
Determined in the negative.
