JOHN WALTER SMITH, ESQ., GOVERNOR.

repeal Sections 32, 33 and 34, of Article 21, of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title "Talbot County," sub-title
"County Commissioners," and to enact the following sec-
tions in lieu thereof, providing for the election of a County
Treasurer for Talbot County, and defining the duties and
powers of said Treasurer.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 31, 32, 33, 36, 37, 42, 44, 45, 49, 50, 51,
52, 53, 67, 68 and 82, of Article 81, of the Code of Public
General Laws of Maryland, title "Revenue and Taxes," so
far as the same relate to Talbot County, and Sections 32, 33
and 34, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Talbot
County," sub-title "County Commissioners," be and the same
are hereby repealed, and the following sections enacted in lieu
thereof, providing for the election of a County Treasurer for
Talbot County, and defining the duties and powers of said
Treasurer.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That at the general election for
county officers to be held in November, nineteen hundred and
one, and every four years thereafter, a County Treasurer shall
be elected by the qualified voters of Talbot County, who shall
hold office for the term of four years from the first day of June
next following his election, and until his successor shall
qualify.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said Treasurer shall be
the collector of all State taxes and of all county taxes for
whatsoever purposes levied, or to be levied for, or within said
county during the term of his office, or that may be placed in
his hands for collection, and he shall have full power, and it
shall be his duty to receive and collect all State and county
taxes levied, as aforesaid, after this Act shall take effect, and
so put in his hands for collection, and all moneys which may
be due said county with full power to enforce the payment of
the same by sale or otherwise, as hereinafter prescribed, and
to convey title to any real or personal estate sold by him for
the payment of State or county taxes, in the manner as pre-
scribed by the succeeding sections; and all taxes levied in
said Talbot County after the first day of January, nineteen
hundred and two, for State and county purposes, shall be col-
lected by the County Treasurer.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the person so elected,
before he enters upon the duties of his said office, shall take
an oath before the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Talbot
