CHAPTER 11.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 52 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Justice of the Peace," sub-
title "Process and Practice," to be designated as Section
29A, and to follow Section 29 of said Article.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and the same is hereby added to
Article 52 of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Justice
of the Peace," sub-title "Process and Practice," to be desig-
nated Section 29A, and to follow Section 29 of said Article,
and to read as follows:

29 A. In all actions or proceedings before any Justice of the
Peace in this State and appeals therefrom, the partnership of
parties, the incorporation of any body corporate, and the rep-
resentative character of any party suing, or being sued, shall

be taken as admitted for the purpose of such action or pro-
ceeding, unless the same shall, at the request of the party
against whom such written denial is made, postponed or be
denied in writing by the opposite party before the hearing of
such case; and whenever such denial is so made, the Court or
Justice before whom the case is pending shall continue the
same to such reasonable time as will enable the party to pro-
cure the required proof.

CHAPTER 12.

AN ACT to authorize the Board of Police Commissioners of
Baltimore City to pension Andrea P. Caldwell, formerly a
policeman and clerk of the police force of Baltimore City.

WHEREAS, Under and by virtue of Article 24 of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "City of Baltimore," an officer
of police, clerk, etc., who has served faithfully for not less
than sixteen years, and who, in the discretion of the Board of
Police Commissioners should be retired to promote the effi-
ciency of the service, is entitled to a pension amounting to
one-third of his salary; and

WHEREAS, A certain Andrea P. Caldwell, after a faithful
and continuous service of more than twenty -three years, was
by inadvertance dropped from the rolls instead of retired and
pensioned; now therefore
