CHAPTER 539.

877

AN ACT to empower the County Commissioners of Prince
George's. County to levy a sum of money for the building
of a school house for colored children in the thirteenth
election district, near Lanham's Station, in Prince George's
County, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maty-
land, That the County Commissioners of Prince George's
County be and are hereby empowered to levy a sum of money
sufficient for the building of a school house for colored chil-
dren on the Whitfield Road, about one and one-quarter mile
east of Lanham's Station, in the thirteenth election district of
Prince George's County, Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate a society called Knights of Babylon
of Germantown, Worcester County, Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Charles T. Spence, John E. Fitchett, Miller E.
Henry, Thomas Robins, Sr., Peter Tinley, Samuel S. Henry
and George Finley, or any five of them, and all other persons
who may hereafter associate with them for the purpose here-
inafter named, and their successors, be and are hereby incor-
porated by the name of "Knights of Babylon of Germantown,
Worcester County, Maryland," for the purpose of forming a
benevolent society for mutual benefit and help in sickness and
in cases of death among its members, paying only sick or
death benefits to members of said society, their families or
dependents, and not to be operated for purposes of profit, and
by such name shall have power and right to sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded in any court of law or equity in this
State, to have, make and use a common seal, and the same to
alter, destroy or renew, and also to hold real estate not exceed-
ing one acre of land, and to receive and hold, use, enjoy and
dispose of personal property not exceeding in value ten thou-
sand dollars, and to continue in existence forty years.
