qualified, and then all vacancies in said board of directors,
from whatever cause arising, shall be filled until the next
annual election by the remaining directors. The directors
shall, at their first meeting after their election, choose by
ballot a president, either from their own body or from the
other stockholders, who, previous to entering upon the" duties
of his office, shall take the oath or affirmation similar in form
to that prescribed for the directors. In the event of the
death, resignation or disqualification of the president, ,the
directors shall proceed to elect his successor in the same
manner.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the increase by the
stockholders of the capital stock of said corporation from
21,000 shares of the par value of eighteen dollars each,
aggregating three hundred and seventy -eight thousand dol-
lars, to twenty-five thousand shares of the par value of twenty
dollars each, aggregating five hundred thousand dollars, in
pursuance of the provisions of the Act of the General Assem-
bly of Maryland of eighteen hundred and ninety-two, Chapter
one hundred and forty-three, Section four, Sub-section two,
be and the same is hereby ratified and approved.
SEC 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage, and the Legislature
reserves the right to repeal, alter or amend this Act at its
pleasure.

Increase of
capital stock.
|
AN ACT to correct a clerical error in paragraph nineteen
of Section one of the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-
eight, Chapter three hundred and twenty-three, entitled an
"Act to appropriate certain sums of money in support of
sundry schools and charitable institutions in the State of
Maryland for each of the two fiscal years ending on the
3oth day of September, 1899, and on the 3oth day of Sep-
tember, 1900, respectively, and to appropriate for the
Hospital for the Women of Maryland the sum of two
thousand dollars, which under said Act as signed by the
Governor, said hospital failed to receive in consequence of
said clerical error.
WHEREAS, By paragraph nineteen of Section one of the
General Appropriation Act of eighteen hundred and ninety-
