Fraud
Butter,
Oleomargarine
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 88, 89, 90 and 91 of Article 27, Code of
Public General Laws, title "Crimes and Punishments," sub-
title "Fraud, Butter, Oleomargarine," be and the same are
hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :

exchange, etc.,

made in
imitation of
butter.

Sec. 88. That no person by himself, his agents or servants,
or as the agent or servant of any other person, shall render
or manufacture, sell or exchange, offer for sale or ex-
change, expose for sale or exchange, take orders for the
'future delivery of, have in his possession, keep in storage,
distribute, deliver, transfer or convey, with intent to sell
within this State, any article, product or compound made
wholly or partly out of any fat, oil or oleogeneous sub-
stance or compound thereof not produced directly and
wholly from unadulterated milk or cream from the same,
which shall be in imitation or semblance of yellow butter

same; provided that nothing in this Act shall be construed to
prohibit the manufacture or sale of oleomargarine in separate
form and in such manner as will advise the purchasers and
consumers of its real character, free from coloration or ingre-

violates any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less
than one hundred dollars nor more than three hundred dol-
lars for the first offense, and by a fine of not less than two
hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or by such
fine and three months' imprisonment for each subsequent
offense.

Regulations
for sale of
oleomargarine
|
Sec. 89. That whoever sells oleomargarine free from color-
ation or any ingredients that causes it to look like yellow
butter, as provided in the previous section, from any dwell-
.ings, store, office or public market, shall have conspicuously
posted therein a placard or sign in plain Roman letters not
less than four inches in length "Oleomargarine Sold Here."'
Any person neglecting or failing to post the placard herein
provided for shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be
punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor
more than three hundred dollars for the first offense, and one
hundred dollars for each day's neglect so to post placard there-
after, and by a fine of not less than two hundred dollars nor
more than five hundred dollars or by such fine and three
months' imprisonment for each .subsequent offense.
Sec. go. That whoever, by himself or his servants or agents,
or as the servant or agent of any other person, sells or offers
