misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined not
less than five nor more than five hundred dollars, or be con-
fined in jail for a period of not more than one year, or be both
fined and imprisoned, in the discretion of the court.

Term
of service.

Sec. 108E. The person so selected and appointed stenog-
rapher, as provided in this Act, shall serve only during the
sessions of the particular grand jury for which he was
appointed, or for such special cases as may be required, which
shall clearly appear in the order of his appointment; shall
receive a proper compensation for his services, to be deter-
mined by order of the Circuit Court and fixed, not exceeding
the amount of five dollars per diem when he shall be employed,
and he shall be allowed such reasonable expenses as the court
may deem proper and right, he shall be paid by the County
Commissioners in like manner as the members of the grand
jury are paid, upon certificate of the Clerk of the Circuit
Court, when duly appointed by one of the judges of said
court.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 482.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 6, 15 and 18 of Chapter four hun-
dred and ninety-five of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of the Session of eighteen hundred and ninety-
eight, entitled an" Act to repeal and re-enact, with amend-
ments, the charter of the town of Brunswick, in Frederick
County, as said charter was enacted by Chapter five hun-
dred and seventy-seven of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland, passed at the January Session of eighteen
hundred and ninety, and amended by Chapter five hundred
and twenty of the Acts of the General Assembly of eighteen
hundred and ninety-four, and by Chapter three hundred
and eighty of the Acts of the General Assembly of eighteen
hundred and ninety-six," and to re-enact said Sections 6, 15
and 18 of said Chapter four hundred and ninety-five of the
Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, so as to read as
follows :
