LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 433.
AN ACT to authorize the Governor of Maryland to appoint
L. Allison Wilmer, late Adjutant-General of Maryland, or
some other person to be selected by the Governor, the
agent of the State of Maryland to collect and recover, in
the name of the Governor of Maryland, the balance due,
or so much thereof as is collectible, of the claim of the
State against the United States Government growing out of
the furnishing and equipping of Maryland troops for the
Volunteer Army of the United States in the late Spanish-
American War, and providing compensation therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Governor of Maryland be and he is hereby
authorized to appoint L. Allison Wilmer, late Adjutant-Gen-
eral of Maryland, or some other person to be selected by the
Governor, the agent of the State of Maryland to collect and
recover, in the name of the Governor of Maryland, the balance
due, or so much thereof as is collectible, of the claim of the
State against the United States Government growing out of
the furnishing and equipping of Maryland troops for the
Volunteer Army of the United States in the late Spanish-
American War.

Compensation

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That should the Governor
appoint the said L. Allison Wilmer agent, as aforesaid, the
said L. Allison Wilmer shall receive out of the moneys so
collected and turned into the Treasury by the Governor, and
from no other source whatsoever, the sum of twelve hundred
and twenty-two dollars and twenty-one cents, which shall be
in full settlement of all claims and compensation of and to
the said L. Allison Wilmer for the collecting and recovering
by him of the sum of one hundred and eleven thousand four
hundred and twenty-one dollars and fifty-one cents while
Adjutant-General of Maryland, and of all other claims of the
said Allison Wilmer for his services to the State under the
order and assignments of the Governor during said war; and
the Comptroller is hereby directed to draw his warrant on the
Treasurer, and the Treasurer is hereby directed to pay said
sum of twelve hundred and twenty-two dollars and twenty-
one cents to the said L. Allison Wilmer out of the moneys
collected and recovered by him as aforesaid, and turned into
the treasury as aforesaid, and out of no other funds whatso-
ever.
