be unquestionably safe, productive and quickly converted,
pending its use for redemption purposes.

Shall publish
notice of sale
of bonds.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said bonds shall be dis-
posed of at public auction at the Court House door in said
town to the highest bidder for cash, after notice by advertise-
ment in all the newspapers in the said town once a week for
six successive weeks prior to the date of sale, and the proceeds
of said bonds shall only be used for the purposes declared by
this Act.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That before the said bonds may
be issued, the president and Commissioners shall cause the
question of the issue thereof to be submitted to the qualified
voters of said town, at a regular annual election thereof, and
should said question be determined in favor of said issue at
said election, then the said president and Commissioners of
said town are authorized to proceed, in their discretion, with
the issue of said bonds, as hereinbefore provided, and the said
president and Commissioners are hereby authorized to provide,
by ordinance, for the submission of said question at such elec-
tion and for ample notice thereof.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact Section seven hundred and
sixty-three of Chapter one hundred and twenty-three of the
Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of eighteen hun-
dred and ninety -eight, title "City of Baltimore," sub-title
"Police Commissioners."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section seven hundred and sixty-three of Chapter
one hundred and twenty-three of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight,
title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Police Commissioners,"
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as to
read as follows:

Sec...763. The said Board of Police Commissioners are
authorized, empowered and directed to grant leave of absence,
with pay, for a period of twenty days in each consecutive
year of service to each of the officers of police, policemen and
