SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
Approved April 7, 1900.

CHAPTER 400.
AN ACT to repeal and to re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion two hundred and twenty-two, Article 3, of the Code of
Public Local Laws, entitled "Baltimore County," sub-title
"Sheriff," as amended by Act of the General Assembly
eighteen hundred and ninety-four, Chapter five hundred.

Sheriff.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section two hundred and twenty-two of Article 3
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, entitled "Bal-
timore County," sub-title "Sheriff," as amended by the Act
of the General Assembly of eighteen hundred and ninety-four,
Chapter five hundred, be and the same is hereby repealed and
re-enacted with amendments to read as follows:

Annual Com-
pensation.

Sec. 222. The sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an
annual salary of three thousand dollars, to be paid to him in
quarterly installments of seven hundred and fifty dollars by
the County Commissioners of Baltimore County, and he shall
be allowed the sum of four thousand dollars annually, to be
paid to him by the said County Commissioners in quarterly
installments for the expenses of his office, including clerk and

for certain
expenses.

Duties of

the necessary deputies to assist him in the discharge of his
duties. He shall collect all fees and charges to which he may
be entitled to by law, and exercise all powers conferred upon
him by law to enforce the collection of the same, and shall at
the end of each month during his term of office make a sworn
report of the same to the County Commissioners of Baltimore
County in such form as said Commissioners may direct, and
pay over the same to the treasurer of Baltimore County upon
the order of said Commissioners, and whenever any sheriff
shall retire from office, having uncollected any costs, fees and
charges lawfully payable to him, his successor shall collect
and pay over the same, and it shall be the duty of the sheriff
to keep in his office in such books as may be required an
official record of the fees and charges to be collected by him,
and those which have been collected, and such books shall
remain in his office after the expiration of his term for the
use of his successor.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.
