the said County Commissioners to the said State's Attorney,
and in lieu of the fees and compensation provided in Section
twenty-one of Article 10, of the Code of Public General Laws;
but in the event said fees and allowances for services to said
State's Attorney, payable by said County Commissioners,
shall not amount to fifteen hundred dollars in any year, then
said County Commissioners shall pay to said State's Attorney
the sum of fifteen hundred dollars for his entire services for
which said county is liable for that year.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 397.
AN ACT requiring the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Com.
pany to keep a flagman stationed at the crossing of said
railroad over the county road at Monrovia, Frederick
County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company be and
it is hereby required to keep a flagman stationed during every
hour of the twenty-four of each and every day in each and
every year at the crossing of said railroad over the county ,
road at the station of Monrovia, Frederick County, to warn,
persons of the approach of trains; provided, that the County
Commissioners of Frederick County shall deem such flagman
necessary for the proper protection of life and property at said
crossing.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad Company shall be liable to pay a fine of fifty dollars
for each and every day that said company shall fail to comply
with the provisions of this Act after the fifteenth day of April,
in the year 1900; said fine to be recovered in an action of
debt in the name of the State of Maryland before any justice
of the peace in and for Frederick County; said fine to be paid
when collected into the public school fund of Frederick
County.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all Acts and parts of Acts
inconsistent with this Act be and the same are hereby
repealed.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
