CHAPTER 395.
AN ACT giving the consent of the State of Maryland to the
acquisition by purchase or condemnation by the United
States of a lot or parcel of land in the City of Westminster,
in Carroll County, Maryland, for the purpose of erecting
thereon a building for a postoffice.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the consent of the State of Maryland be and the
same is hereby given to the acquisition by purchase or con-
demnation by the United States of a lot or parcel of land in the
City of Westminster, in Carroll County, State of Maryland,
for the purpose of erecting thereon a building for a postoffice.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 7, 1900.

CHAPTER 396.
AN ACT to repeal Chapter forty-two of the Acts passed at
the January Session of the General Assembly, eighteen
hundred and ninety-four, entitled an "Act to repeal and
re-enact, with amendments, Section one hundred and forty-
two of Article 7, of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
'Carroll County,' sub-title 'State's Attorney,' and re-enact
the same, with amendments."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter forty-two of the Acts passed at the Janu-
ary Session, eighteen hundred and ninety-four, of the General
Assembly of Maryland, be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, so as to read as follows:

Attorney.

Sec. 142. The State's Attorney of Carroll County shall
receive the following fees, to be paid by the County Commis-
sioners of said county: He shall receive the sum of ten dol-
lars in each and every case which he shall prosecute for the
State by indictment or presentment and trial either before the
court or a jury; said sum shall include the appearance fee as
now fixed by law; said sum of ten dollars shall be in lieu of
all trial and appearance fees allowed to said State's Attorney.
Said State's Attorney shall be allowed the sum of three
dollars as an appearance fee in any State case or hearing and
trial before any justice of the peace in said county. The afore-
mentioned fees shall be the only compensation to be paid by
