or owners thereof first being had and obtained; and to connect
with any manufacturing, public or private building, lamp or
other structure or object, car or conveyance, and in general to
manufacture, sell, furnish and supply electric light and electric
power or stored electricity and electrical machinery supplies for
any and all purposes that may be desired or required, and to use
the necessary means to accomplish the purposes of this corpora-
tion; and are also hereby authorized and empowered to manu-
facture, furnish and sell gas in any city, town or village in
Frederick County, whether incorporated or not, and to have

factories, which they are hereby authorized and empowered
to establish and carry on in any city, town or village in said

lage in said county except Frederick City, and to repair and
renew the same from time to time; provided that said cor-
poration shall not lay its pipes or conduits, or erect its poles
or string its wires along the public roads of Frederick County
without first obtaining the consent of the County Commis-

sioners of Frederick County; and provided further that said
corporation shall not lay its pipes or conduits, or erect its
poles or string its wires along, under or over the streets, lanes
and alleys of Frederick City without first obtaining the con-
sent of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Frederick City,
nor shall said corporation establish a plant for the manufac-
ture of gas or electricity in any of the incorporated towns of
Frederick County without first obtaining the consent of the
corporate authorities of said town, or if the town be not
incorporated without first obtaining the consent of the said
County Commissioners of Frederick County.

Capital stock

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of said
corporation shall consist of fifty thousand dollars, divided into
one thousand shares of the par value of fifty dollars each, and
which capital stock may be increased from time to time to
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars by a majority vote of
the stockholders at a special meeting or meetings to be called
for that purpose; and the incorporators, or a majority of them
named in this Act, shall have power to open books for sub-
scription at such times and place as they may deem expedient;
and that when fifty or more shares of said stock shall have
been subscribed, said incorporators, or a majority of them,
shall call a general meeting of the subscribers at such time
and place as they may appoint, after having given ten days'
public notice of such meeting by three insertions in one or
