LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 283.
AN ACT to encourage the establishment and development of
Manufactures and Manufacturing Industries in the Town of
Snow Hill, Worcester County.

SECTION 1. De it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Mayor and City Council of Snow Hill be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered, whenever it shall
seem expedient for the encouragement of the establishment of
manufactures and manufacturing industries in said town to
provide by ordinance for the exemption from taxation for
municipal purposes, for any certain period of time in their
discretion deemed advisable, lands and buildings thereon in
said town used by such manufacturers in the usual conduct
of and for the usual purposes of their manufacturing business,
and any mechanical tools or implements, whether worked by
hand or steam, or other motive power, machinery, manu-
facturing apparatus or engines, owned by any individual, firm
or corporation in said town, and properly subject to valuation
and taxation therein, which said tools, implements, machinery,
apparatus or engines shall be actually employed and used in
the business of manufacturing in said town.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 284.
AN ACT to Amend the Charter and enlarge the powers of
the Peninsula General Hospital, of Salisbury, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That in addition to the powers now possessed by virtue
of its incorporation under the General Laws of this State
relating to such incorporations, the Peninsula General Hos-
pital, of Salisbury, Maryland, shall have the right and power
to acquire and hold land for a site for a hospital building, and
ground adjacent thereto, necessary and convenient for its
purposes as a hospital, and if it cannot agree with the owner
or owners of such land, as it may need or desire for such pur-
pose, or if such owner or owners, or any of them, be femme
covert without power to contract in relation to said property,
or under age, or non compos mentis, or under any other legal
disability, or be absent from the county or city in which the
said property may lie, the said corporation may proceed to
