tice of the peace to the constable of the sixth district on the
oath or affirmation of any other constable or on the oath or
affirmation of any police officer of the City of Annap-
olis; and when any warrant is issued by any jus-
tice of the peace on the complaint, oath or affirmation
of any constable, and such charge shall be dismissed or
the defendant acquitted, no fee in such cases shall be allowed
by the County Commissioners, or the Mayor, Counsellor and

Compensation

Aldermen of Annapolis, to any officer serving such process.
The constable of the sixth district of said county, for the
services of all process and summonses for witnesses made by
him in criminal cases, shall receive from the County Com-
missioners the sum of fifty dollars per month, payable in cash
or by levy equivalent to cash on the day of his making report,
as provided in the preceding sections; provided, that if the
amount of the constable's fees for services of process by him,
as may appear by his report and the report of the justice of
the peace, is less than fifty dollars, then and in that case such
constable shall only receive the amount of fees appearing by
said reports to have been earned by him. The constables,

other than in the sixth district, for services of process
in criminal cases made by them, shall receive twenty-five
dollars per month, to be paid in like manner as provided for
the constable of the sixth district, inclusive of any fees such
constable may have received by way of payments of costs in
trials before the justice of the peace, and any such costs col-
lected or received by such constable are to be credited on his
said salary; and provided, that if the amount of such con-
stable's fees for any one mouth is less than twenty-five dol-
lars, then he shall only be allowed the amount of fees
appearing to have been earned by him. The said constables,
in presenting their bill to the County Commissioners, shall
accompany the same with an itemized statement of all fees
collected by them on account of such service of process, sup-
ported by affidavit of the truth of the same.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to amend the charter of the Cumberland Savings
Bank, so as to authorize said bank to engage in and con-
