JOHN WALTER SMITH, ESQ., GOVERNOR.

WHEREAS, Section three hundred and fifty-five of the
Revised Statutes of the United States requires that before
any money can be expended the Legislature must give its
consent to the purchase of the said land, and cede to the
United States jurisdiction over the site obtained; therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the consent of the State of Maryland be and it is
hereby given to the purchase by the United States of America
of a lot or lots of ground in Ellicott City, Howard County,
Maryland, for the purpose of erecting a public building
thereon.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That jurisdiction over said lot
or lots of ground, after the same shall have been conveyed to
the United States of America, be and it is hereby ceded,
released and relinquished to the United States of America
over the said lot or lots of ground; provided, however, that all
civil and such criminal process as may issue under the
authority of this State against any person or persons charged
with crimes and misdemeanors, committed without said lot
or lots of ground, may be executed thereon in the same way
and manner as though this cession had never been made or

granted by this Act, together with all buildings and personal
property which is or may be hereafter within the bounds

CHAPTER 269.
AN ACT to provide Additional Revenue for the Special Fund
of the Board of Police Commissioners of the City of Balti-
more, to be derived from the granting or issuing permits to
give public dances, soirees, masked balls, boxing or athletic
contests, or either of them, in the City of Baltimore.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of Police Commissioners of the City of
Baltimore are hereby authorized to issue permits for the giving
