LAWS OF MARYLAND.

State
appropriation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That as soon as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees
of said Academy shall file a certificate under oath with the
Comptroller of the State of Maryland certifying that said
Academy has received from some private individual or
individuals a donation amounting to the sum of ten thousand
dollars or more, to be used for educational purposes only, the
said Comptroller shall issue his warrant annually on the first
day of July upon the Treasurer of this State for the sum of
twelve hundred dollars, and said Treasurer shall annually,
on the first day of July in each year, pay said amount of
twelve hundred dollars to the trustees of said Academy, in
addition to the appropriation now received by it as an acad-
emy fund.

Additional
appropriation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That should the trustees of Anne
Arundel County Academy show the Comptroller of this State
that they have received from some private individual or
individuals an additional donation of twelve thousand dollars,
to be used for educational purposes only, the said Comptroller,
as soon as the Secretary of said Board of Trustees shall file
with him a certificate under oath certifying that an additional
sum of twelve thousand dollars has been so donated to said
Academy, shall on the first day of July in each year issue his
warrant upon the Treasurer of this State for a further sum of
twelve hundred dollars, and said Treasurer shall annually, on
the first day of July in each year, pay to said trustees the
further sum of twelve hundred dollars.

Free pupils.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Trustees of the Anne
Arundel County Academy shall receive annually one properly
qualified pupil of either sex free of tuition for every one hun-
dred dollars received by donation from this State; provided,
however, that this Act shall in nowise be considered a con-
tract, and that this appropriation shall be only applicable to
the years 1900 and 1901.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Code of Public Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," as
repealed and re-enacted by Chapter one hundred and
