of the constituent corporations may at the time of such con-
solidation have had the right to exercise, and all the assets
and property of every kind of all the corporations so consoli-
dating or uniting shall, upon the completion of such consoli-
dation, be assigned and conveyed to such constituent corpora-
tions to such consolidated corporation. And such consolidated
corporation shall be liable for all the debts and engagements
of said consituent corporations as fully and to the same extent
as such constituent corporations have been liable therefor at
the time of the consolidation. As soon as such consolidation
shall have been determined upon, the corporations so uniting
or consolidating shall execute a certificate of consolidation,
signed by their proper officers, respectively, under their
respective corporate seals, setting forth the terms of said con-
solidation; the said certificate shall be filed in the office of the
Secretary of State of this State; when said certificate shall be
filed the said consolidation shall be considered completed.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 214.
AN ACT to extend the privileges, enlarge the powers and
amend the charter of the Jacob Tome Institute, a corpora-
tion incorporated under the General Incorporation Laws of
this State, and whose charter was amended by an Act
passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, Session of
eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, Chapter seventy-six.

Powers and
franchises.

WHEREAS, The Jacob Tome Institute was incorporated
under the General Incorporation Laws of this State by certifi-
cate of incorporation, recorded among the Charter Records of
Cecil County, in Liber D. S. No. 1, folio 220, etc., and its
privileges were extended, its powers enlarged and its charter
amended by an Act passed by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, Session of eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, Chapter
seventy-six, and it is desirous of still further extending its
privileges, enlarging its powers and amending its charter;
therefore,

amended.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Jacob Tome Institute, in addition to the
powers possessed by it under its said certificate of incorpora-
tion and the amendments heretofore made thereto, shall have
