stitute of the aforesaid age to do the work or pay to the
bailiff on or before the day on which the work is to be done
the sum of one dollar for each day, for the use of said town,
and the bailiff shall give at least five days' notice of the time
and place to meet to do said work, and shall on or before the
fifteenth day of May, in each year, post in some public place
a full and complete list of names of all persons notified, the
name of the substitutes furnished and by whom such a sub-
stitute was furnished, and the time worked by each person in
lieu thereof performing such road duty; and any person pay-
ing said money on or before the fifteenth day of July, in any
year, shall receive a discount often percent, on same for that
year. Any person failing to comply with the preceding sec-
tion shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be arrested

and brought before some justice of the peace for Wicomico
County, upon a warrant issued by said justice of the peace in
the name of the State of Maryland, and upon proof of such
failure to be fined one dollar for each day so neglected and the
costs of the suit, and in default of payment shall be committed
to the jail of said county for five days; and if the bailiff shall
receive any substitute who is not of the required age, under
the preceding section, or shall fail to post the said notice, he
shall be fined not less than five nor more than twenty dollars.

Commissio'rs
Term of
office.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Commissioners now in
office shall remain and continue to be Commissioners of Del-
mar until the first election under this Act, and until their suc-
cessors are elected and qualified, and all their acts shall have
the same effect and be as binding in law as if this Act had not
been passed, and that all Acts or part of Acts inconsistent
with the provisions of this Act are hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this Act shall be
construed to effect the liability of any existing treasurer or
collector of Delmar, previously appointed or serving as treas-
urer or collector, and shall hold their offices until their suc-
cessors shall be duly elected and qualified; and their bond
shall be subject to all the provisions prescribed by law, and
unpaid taxes shall be collected by the present collector or
collectors, and be liable and be collectible.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
