indexes in the aforesaid offices free of charge; and it shall be
the duty of the clerk or register aforesaid in whose office said
paper or papers are filed or records and indexes are kept, to afford
immediate access to said papers or records, and a full oppor-
tunity to the person or persons desiring to make an examina-
tion of the same and memoranda therefrom for the purpose
aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 27.

AN ACT to authorize the Commissioners of Crisfield, in
Somerset County, to issue additional bonds on the credit of
said municipal corporation.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Commissioners of' Crisfield, in Somerset
County are hereby authorized and empowered, from time to <
time, to issue bonds on the faith and credit of said municipal
corporation in the sum of not exceeding twelve thousand
dollars the proceeds of the sale whereof shall be applied, first
to the payment or refunding of all past due indebtedness of
said town, and after such refunding then in the discretion of
the said commissioners additional bonds may be issued and
sold in manner prescribed by ordinance or ordinances, the
proceeds of the sale of such additional bonds to be applied to
public improvements in said -town; that the said bonds shall
be issued in two series as follows: Series A — Twelve bonds of
the par value of five hundred dollars each, due and payable
ten years from the date of issue thereof respectively; and,
Series B — Twelve bonds of the par value of five hundred dol-
lars each due and payable twenty years from the date of issue
thereof respectively; that said bonds shall bear interest at
not exceeding five per centum per annum, payable semi-
annually, after the date of said bonds, which may be evinced
by coupons to be attached thereto; that said bonds shall be
signed by the president of the Board of Commissioners of
Crisfield, sealed with the seal of the corporation and attested
by the clerk thereof; that the faith and assessable property of
said town of Crisfield are hereby pledged for the payment and
redemption of the principal and interest of said bonds, which
