CHAPTER 166.
AN ACT to repeal Section eighty-five of Article 12, of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title "Garrett County," sub-
title "Deer Park," and re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section eighty-five of Article 12, of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Garrett County," sub-title, "Deer
Park," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
so as to read as follows:

Deer Park.

85. They may annually levy a tax for the expenses of the
corporation upon the taxable property within the town limits,
real and personal, except public and private securities and
book accounts, and such property as may be occupied by
churches and public schools, and the same shall be collected
by a collector appointed by the said Mayor and Common
Council for the purpose, whose compensation for collecting
said taxes shall not exceed five per centum thereof, and who
shall give bond in such amount as they shall prescribe, and
hold his office during their pleasure, and the collector in
collecting the taxes shall have the same power of distraint
for the same that the collectors of State and county taxes
have. But the tax shall not exceed twenty-five cents on the
one hundred dollars in any one year. It shall be the duty of
the Mayor and Common Council annually during the first
week of July to post in at least three public places an item-
ized statement snowing the receipts from all sources of said
village of Deer Park for the year ending July ist, and an
itemized statement of the expenditures during said year by
said Mayor and Common Council. The said statement shall
be verified by the affidavit of the Mayor.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 5, 1900.

CHAPTER 167.
AN ACT to prohibit the sale of spirituous or fermented
liquors within one and one-half miles of Providence Metho-
dist Protestant Church, at Kemptown, Election District
No. 9, of Frederick County, Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall not be lawful for the Clerk of the Circuit
Court of Frederick County to issue license to any person or
