CHAPTER 19.
AN ACT to repeal Section two hundred and fifty-three of
Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Carroll County," sub-title "Westminster," and re-
enact the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section two hundred and fifty-three of Article 7
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title ''Car-
roll County," sub-title "Westminster," be repealed and re-
enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:
253. In default of payment of any fine or penalty imposed
by him for a violation of any ordinance of the said corpora-
tion, the Justice of the Peace may commit the party fined to
the county jail of Carroll County for a period not exceeding
thirty days; and the sheriff of said county shall receive and
confine the person so committed in the same manner as other
prisoners, and shall be entitled to the same compensation
therefor; provided that any person so fined shall have the
right to take an appeal to the Circuit Court for Carroll County
within ten days from the date of trial, and by giving an
appeal bond, with sufficient security, shall be released from
legal custody.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 20.
AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and Common Council of
the town of Union Bridge, Carroll County, Maryland, to
issue bonds to raise money to pay off the amount of out-
standing bonds heretofore issued by said municipal corpor-
ation, under authority given by the Act of Assembly of
eighteen hundred and eighty-four, Chapter twenty-nine,
and to levy and collect the necessary taxes for the payment
of said bonds and the interest thereon.
