bear part of the expense, and the County Commissioners of
Washington County having assented to such agreement, sub-
ject to the authorization thereof by the General Assembly of
Maryland; and

WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of Allegany County
have in whole or in part affected such change of location ;
now, therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Washington County
be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to enter
into contract with the County Commissioners of Allegany
County in regard to the change of location of a road in Alle-
gany County that shall relieve the Commissioners of Wash-
ington County from the necessity of keeping up and main-
taining the road in the Hancock District of Washington
County commonly known as the Stottlemeyer road, and for
any work that may be now or hereafter done by said County
Commissioners of Allegany County in pursuance of such
change of location of road, and to this intent are hereby
authorized and empowered to levy upon the assessable prop-
erty of Washington County such taxes as may be needful to
fulfill the requirements of the contract hereby authorized;
provided, that the amount to be paid thereupon by the Com-
missioners of Washington County to the Commissioners of
Allegany County shall not exceed the sum of two hundred
and fifty dollars.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 133.
AN ACT to add two new sections to Article 1 of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title
"City of Cumberland," under the new sub-title "Bills of
Exchange and Promissory Notes,'' to be numbered Sec-
tions 96 A and 96 B, and to follow Section ninety-six of
Article i.
