JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Delegates prefer not to act, he shall substitute for himself
some member of the body over which he presides), and the
said committee so appointed shall constitute a joint committee,
whose duty it shall be to invite the Legislature of Maryland
to appoint a similar committee on its part to meet and confer
with the Virginia committee for the purpose of establishing
and definitely settling the true boundary line between the
said States by naming the head lands on the Virginia shore,
which shall be points from which the true line of boundary
shall be drawn. The said Virginia committee is hereby fully
empowered to confer and treat with the Maryland committee
on the subject of the boundary line aforesaid, and to report
the result of such conference to the General Assembly of Vir-
ginia for approval and ratification.
The said committee is also authorized to sit during the
recess of the General Assembly if they shall deem it necessary
or expedient to do so. Be it

Resolved, By the General Assembly of Maryland, that in
view of the said resolution by the State of Virginia, a similar
committee be appointed in like manner by the presiding
officers of this General Assembly of Maryland, with like
powers and duties in every particular, and to report to the
General Assembly of Maryland for the ratification, with the
further power of agreeing and defining the head lands or line
between the Potomac River and its tributaries on the Mary-
land side of said river, and also to confer upon matters offish
and oyster legislation.

Authority to
act conjointly.

Resolved, That the joint committee appointed under the
authority of this resolution be and it is hereby authorized to
meet and act conjointly with the Virginia committee if prac-
ticable, during this session of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, and if it shall have concluded its labors during this
session, report the result of their investigation and conclusion
to the General Assembly, but if they be not concluded during
this session, then to sit during the recess and report as afore-
said to the next General Assembly.

WHEREAS, The Chickamauga and Chattanooga National
Park Commission have issued invitations for a general inspec-
tion of the work of the Commission on October the 9th, 10th
and 11th, 1900, for examination of the tablets and monuments
commemorating the seven battle-fields of Chickamauga,
Wauhatchie, Brown's Ferry, Orchard Knob, Lookout Moun-
tain, Missionary Ridge and Ringgold Gap, all of which are
embraced in the park project, and upon each of which the
