Messick, On motion by Mr. Bouic, it was Ordered by the Senate, that Miss Jeanie Bailey be and she is hereby appointed stenographer and typewriter for the Senate. On motion by Mr. Bryan, it was Ordered, That the Rev. Jos. A. Kautz, Rev. S. B. Sutherland and Rev. Mr Winsted, be and they are hereby appointed Chaplains to the Senate, and that they divide the services in such manner as shall be agreed on by themselves, the pay of one Chaplain at the per diem of $5.00 per day to be equally divided between them. Also, Ordered, That Senators Claggett and Gray be ex- cused from attendance on to-day's session, on account of sickness. On motion of Mr. Crothers, it was Ordered, That Wm. Meade Holladay act as Journal Clerk, until the qualification of the Journal Clerk-elect. Which was adopted. On motion of Mr. Moore, it was Ordered, That the hour of 12 o'clock noon, be and the same, shall, until otherwise ordered, be the hour of meeting. On motion of Mr. Brewington, it was Ordered, That the rules of the Senate of the Session of 1898, be and the same are hereby adopted as the rules of the present session, subject to such changes as may be made at any time during this session.
