assessment and collection of a tax upon distilled spirits,
and re-enact said section 3 so as to read as follows, and
also to add an additional section to said chapter 704, to
be known as ‘Section 12.'

A bill entitled "An Act to appropriate a sum of money
to pay for building, renewing, repairing and equipping
workshops in the Maryland Penitentiary."
Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Finance.
By Mr. Applegarth,
A bill entitled "An Act to authorize the County School
Commissioners of Dorchester county, to establish a
High School in the town of Hurlock, and to appropriate
annually a sum of money to aid in the support thereof."
Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Education."
By Mr. Bouic,
A bill entitled "An Act entitled the encouragement of
agriculture."

Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

By Mr. Baker,
A bill entitled "An Act to authorize and empower the
County Commissioners of Kent county, to change the
public landing at Buck Neck, in Kent county, and to sell,
exchange, or lease, as they may deem proper, the land-
ing now owned by the county at said Buck Neck."

Which was read the first time, and referred to Sena-
tors Baker, Williams, of Harford, and Crothers.

A bill entitled "An Act to permit the United Railways
and Electric Company of Baltimore to increase its board
of directors from the present number, to-wit, nine, unto
eleven, and to provide that of such number two may be
citizens and residents of states other than the State of
Maryland."
