On motion of Mr. Crothers, it was Ordered, That whereas, at the request of the present Treasurer, Hon. Thomas J. Shryock, and the Treasurer- elect, Hon. Murray Vandiver, it is requested under see- 23, of Article 95, that the Finance Committee of the Senate and the Ways and Means Committee of the House, examine and count on Saturday, January 20th, 1900, at 10 o'clock A. M., the securities of the State of Maryland purchased by the Treasurer for the use of the Sinking Fund, and to burn all cancelled bonds and certificates of stock belonging to the overdue debt of the State which was purchased for the use of the Sinking Fund, and the said committee shall make a detailed report of their find- ings, and that the same shall be spread upon the Journals of the Senate and House, in order that such record may by preserved. Which was adopted. Mr. Bouic submitted the following message: BY THE SENATE, Jany. 17th, 1900. Oentlemen of the House of Delegates: We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, that all bills and leaves to introduce bills, to sanction bequests, devises, sales, gifts or convey- ances to religious or charitable objects, be referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings and the Com- mittee on the Judiciary of the respective Houses, and that said committee be, and they are hereby, instructed to report on March the 13th, 1900, a general bill embracing all such bills and leaves, except where there is a special, reason for more speedy action, in which case separate bills may be introduced. By order, ALFRED RITTER, Secretary. Which was read, assented to and seat to the House of Delegates. |
