1900.] OF THE SENATE. 743

The institution is not only a necessity but find that it
is also a paying one, as their report shows that they
turned over to the State Treasurer $33,000 last year.
The appropriation asked for is $2,000,000, and your
committee, personally favor this amount asked for as we
think it will be the means of a further increase in their
balance which they have turned into the State Treasury.
Your committee regret that they were unable to visit
all of the public buildings in which the people of Mary-
land are interested, but if those not visited are in a con
dition such as those we have visited, the State is to be
heartily congratulated.
Your commit/tee also suggest and recommend an Audi-
tor to audit the books of the public institutions of this
State that receive State appropriations.
