‘Section 171 A.'
Which was read the second time.
Mr. Baker, from Select Committee, reported favorably
with proposed amendments,
House hill entitled "An Act to repeal Act of 1896,
chapter 193, and to authorize the County Commissioners
of Kent county to provide for the building of a public
school house in Chestertown. and to build the same, and
to issue bonds to pay for the same, and to levy an annual
sum to pay such bonds and the interest thereon as they
mature, and for other purposes”
AMENDMENTS PPOPOSED.
Amend title by striking out the words "and to build
the same” in line 3, after the word "Chestertown”
Strike out the words "and for other purposes” in line
5. and insert in lieu thereof the words "and to appoint a
commission for building and equipping."

Sec. 1. Strike out in line 3 the word "fifteen," and in-
ser't in lien thereof the word "twenty."
Amend section 4 by striking out all after the figure
"4," and substituting the following:
"And be it enacted, That the proceeds of the sale of the
said bonds shall be paid over to the commission hereafter
to be named, to be used and applied by said commission
exclusively in the purchase of a suitable site of such
quantity of land as said commission may deem neces-
sary and in the building and equipping of a public
school house in Chestertown, and said proceeds
shall he paid out for the purposes mentioned in the
Act, under the direction and control of said commis-
sioners and upon the written order of a majority of said
commissioners."
Amend "section 5” by sti'iking out all after the figure
"5” and substituting the following:
"Arid he it enacted, that immediately upon the sale of
the bonds provided for by this Act, the commission
hereinafter named shall proceed to procure a proper site
and plans for the building, said school house, and after
the securement and adoption of proper plans and speci-
fications, said commission shall advertise at least once a
