Mr. Baker, from Select Committee, reported favor-
ably, with proposed amendments,
Senate bill entitled "An Act to authorize the clerk of
the Circuit Court of Kent county, Maryland, to copy the
General Index for deeds and mortgages, and to arrange
said index under a different system into a new and sub-
stantial book from the year 1842 to 1844, inclusive; to
make a general index for chattel mortgages and bill of
sale from the year 1880 to 1900, inclusive; to make a
general index for magistrates' judgments from the year
1800 to 1900, inclusive; to make a general index for mar-
riage licenses f'rom the year 1800 to 1900, inclusive ; to
mak.e a general index for all equity proceedings, and to
have Chancery Docket D. C. B., No. 1., rebound and re-
paired, and to re-copy the index in said Chancery
Docket,"
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amendment to 2d section to follow the word "clerk”
on the top line of the 2d page "such compensation as they
may consider the work which the clerk may perform
under the provisions of the preceding section to be
worth."
Strike out "3d section” entirely.
To follow section 1, "Provided, that the Judges of the
Circuit Court for Kent county shall first certify to the
Board of County Commissioners that such work is neces-
sary to be done in order to preserve the said records from
destruction."
